The Community of the Dominican Sisters of Saint Joseph
is a new Congregation belonging to the Order of Preacher.
Striving for fidelity to the Dominican charism. Their purpose is to
 '
...contemplate, and pass on to others the fruits of their contemplation...'

The Sisters are also available to assist Parish Priests with Missions,
give Talks and run Adults/Children's Catechetical Courses.

The Sisters can also offer spiritual guidance to individuals.

All the events in this diary are led by the Dominican Sisters of the Priory.
If you would like to help with any of the social events, please contact St. Julie.

The programme of service to the Community and diocese offered by the nuns includes retreats, events for Religious, and an annual Youth Event. The Priory is now able to receive bookings for the current year.  As well as the events listed below we can offer

This is our Chapel which was blessed by Bishop Crispian in 2003

Directions to St. Dominic's Priory from Southampton:

A35 to Lyndhurst then take the A337 through Brockenhurst.  Look out for a sign to Boldre then start indicating - road entry is slightly concealed. Take the next turning on your right, signposted St. Dominic's Priory on the main road.  Follow road for about half a mile, under railway bridge and we are the first house on the right with a picket fence.

£100,000 BUILDING APPEAL

The Sisters are hoping that to raise this amount to extend the single story part of the building into two floors, thus providing space for four more rooms required by a further influx of sisters to the community.  A private staircase will also be installed. Planning permission for this alteration was given in 1998 and has since been renewed.  As the damp is spreading and rain seeping into the building itself the work has become more urgent.  Rather than borrow and pay interest, the nuns are hoping to lessen the cost of repayments by finding 100 people, each willing to lend £1,000, interest free for an unspecified time.  After two years, the names of the givers will be put into a draw, and the name pulled out that month will receive their returned donation.  The nuns have so far received £4,000 from willing donors.  One of the Friends of the Priory worked out that he would earn £45 p.a. interest on £1,000 and he felt that he could afford to lose such a small amount in favour of the Convent.  If you are feeling generous, a cheque for £1,000 should be made payable to the Dominican Sisters of St. Joseph and sent to Sr. Rosaleen Shaw at St. Dominic's Priory, Shirley Holms Road, Lymington, SO41 8NH.
