THE WEST SOLENT DECORATIVE AND FINE ARTS SOCIETY
Member Society of NADFAS

(Updated 14th June)*

The aims of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies are the promotion and advancement of the aesthetic education, the cultivation, appreciation and study of the decorative and fine arts and the giving of aid to the preservation and development of our national artistic heritage.  NADFAS brings together people interested in the history of art and conservation.

The West Solent DFAS was formed on Monday 8th April 1974.  The Society now meets in the Church Hall on the third Monday of each month (except July and August) at 10.15 for 10.45 am.  Coffee is served before the meeting and the lecture lasts about an hour.  Subjects vary but all are given by highly qualified lecturers.

Visits are arranged during the year to places of interest and in addition we arrange a four-day trip to some site of special artistic, historic or architectural interest, alternating between the UK and the Continent.  We also hold an annual Study Day where a particular subject is considered with the help of an experienced lecturer.

*For details of membership, please phone Mrs Gwen Blakeman, telephone number 01425 610350
