Welcome to our page on Milford Online!  More details will be added as time goes by but let's get you quickly up to date after a very exciting year so far,  with more plans being developed in the potting shed, which is where we put all our bright ideas to mature and ripen over the year.

So far this year - apart of course from all the work that goes on behind the scenes - we have had our annual Plant Fair on the Village Green which, in spite of the start of the rather cold and overcast weather we have suffered for the most part this year, was very well attended.  This is our 9th  Plant Fair and this year roughly £1,000 was raised to benefit our charities.  These are  Milford Community Centre, Honeypot, Spana In case you don't know, Spana stands for Society of Protection for Animals Abroad.

The next event was blessed by beautiful warm weather.  That was Sunday, 8th June, the sort of day for which all gardeners who have anything to do with Open Days thank the Lord.  A dozen gardens were open to visitors, including the Peas and Carrot Plot at our Primary School.  We hope shortly to have a picture of one of the gardens to put on this page.

There were inspired additions to lure the visitors to the gardens this year.  In two of the gardens visitors were serenaded to the harmonious strains of music - no Rock 'n' Roll - who wants stones in the garden anyway?  Some gardeners on their estates served afternoon teas and even lunch!  There was a small selection of plants for sale, a record gate, and Paul Chilton of Everton Nurseries dropped into three of the gardens to answer questions about plants.  Nobody seems to have been spotted indulging in a bit of surreptitious undercover cutting removal! This  year's venture raised £3,500, which together with the £1,000 from the Plant Sale means our charities will be doing very well indeed and we thank all those members of the public who supported us.  Particular thanks also to our Members and Committee who work so hard all through the year to achieve their well-earned success.

The Club meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at the Milford Primary School at 7.00 pm and our next talk will be on 16th July, where the topic will be about last year's charity, Plantlife, and the work it does.

On 15th October we are having a joint meeting with New Milton Horticultural Society for a special treat:  Tom Hart-Dyke, of Lullingstone Castle and its celebrated Garden will be there to talk to us.   For details about this October meeting ring us on 644489.
