MILFORD MAY DAY CELEBRATIONS - 3rd MAY 2010

[ Back to Home Page ]

There may be a slight delay for the first download to your computer

The run-up - accompanied by the band, which raised spirits to champagne level
serenading the enthusiastic crowd who think the sun might have arrived. . .

. . . while they hoped the rumours about a failure to obtain a Health and Safety
Certificate for the Maypole might cause a cancellation of the children's dancing -
just in case the beribboned pole leapt up and killed members of the public . . .

This is probably Grandpa with small Tiger . . . or could it be Dad with ditto?

The vacant throne causes interest and speculation . . . but here come the stars . . .

. . . Princess Joanna and her Attendant, Lady Kitty face a cold wind, a darkening sky
but the applause of their fans . . .

A bigger view of our May girls

Still waiting . . . oh, dear, was that a raindrop - or two?

Mrs Margaret Richens introduces the girls, hopes the rain really won't come, thanks
the organisers of a wonderful day in spite of the chilly wind and prepares to crown
the May Princess with spring flowers. . .

There . . . good grief, the girls must be freezing! I know I am and I'm wearing a
jacket!

The cloud above is getting darker . . .

and darker . . .

But there, all done!  We'll see you at the Carnival in August!

And the skies opened, fortunately not for too long but at this point our photographer left!
